CreativeMornings at A SPACE!

The movement started by Tina Roth Eisenberg in New York is now in Makati.

60 members of Manila’s creative community woke up extra early for the very first CreativeMornings session in the country.

In 2008, Tina Roth Eisenberg (Swissmiss) started CreativeMornings out of a desire for an ongoing, accessible event for New York’s creative community. The concept was simple: breakfast and a short talk one Friday morning a month. Every event would be free of charge and open to anyone.

Today, attendees gather in cities around the world to enjoy fresh coffee, friendly people, and an international array of breakfast foods. Volunteer hosts and their team members organize local chapters that not only celebrate a city’s creative talent, but also promote an open space to connect with like-minded individuals.

Graphic Designer and the person responsible for bringing this awesome movement in the country, Patch Silva, shared that CreativeMornings is currently at 116 cities around the world. After the long and very thorough application process, the creative breakfast session finally made our shores!

The CreativeMorning drill is easy: wake up extra early on a Friday (normally on the last Friday of the month), have breakfast at the event, listen to the talk, share your thoughts + mingle, and then go to work! Something creative to break the weekly routine, eh? Interested participants must take note that they have to pre-register to the official EventBrite page to save his or her slot for every session.

Every month, the discussion focuses on a specific topic that the invited speakers can discuss for 20 minutes. For the month of June, it’s Revolution.

CreativeMornings Makati invited Carlos Celdran to share and discuss this very apt topic as we are celebrating our Independence month. The eager audience was treated with coffee, cookies (or a slice of carrot or banana loaf), and a glimpse to the pre-World War II Manila and how knowing one’s past can help in the revolution for change.

It was definitely a fruitful morning for everyone who participated. Congratulations to the whole CreativeMornings Makati team for a successful first event!
